Happy birthday!
Ben is 3 years old today! It seems like just yesterday that I got the call that he was on the way. It was a Friday morning, and I waited anxiously all day at school to hear from our social worker. I was so nervous that I dropped my phone when she called, and it broke into 3 pieces! Luckily, I was able to put it back together to hear the news that he had arrived and that he and Molly were both fine. We packed up the car and drove to Auburn that afternoon, even though we knew we wouldn't see him right away. When we arrived at the hospital the next day and walked into the nursery, it was like my whole life started in that moment. In a way, Ben's birthday is like our birthday as a family.
We can never express the gratitude that we feel every day to Molly and Andy for their sacrifice. We haven't been perfect parents, and Ben's not a perfect child, but we are perfect for each other.
