8-2-2014

We started school this week, so Ben and Daddy have been a little bit abandoned by me! Luckily, Daddy knows how to pick up the slack for a couple of weeks until things get settled down. We are still having a good time on the weekends, but I haven't cooked all week! We are all surviving, probably better than most.

Ben is still loving his big boy bed and is having no problems adjusting. We read 5 (or 10!) books each night and cuddle. Then we give kisses, rub noses, and give hugs, say "I love you," and then "Good night!" He is a big boy!

He mastered pedaling his tricycle last week, a major accomplishment. He has had no potty accidents in a few weeks during the day (he still sleeps in a pull-up). He's doing great! I hate to jinx him by bragging, but he really is the most well-adjusted child. As long as we explain things to him, he handles it, usually with a grin on his face.

Don't get me wrong.  He's not perfect. He's the most stubborn  human being I have ever met (besides myself). He is bossy as all get-out (like me also). He is extremely independent and doesn't want anyone helping him (also sounds very familiar). All of these are traits of a leader, and I do secretly admire him when he acts that way. But....it's also important to be respectful and allow others to be in charge sometimes.  It's also important to accept that things aren't always going to be perfect and sometimes we will make mistakes. We try not to be so quick to pick him up if he falls or let him win at everything. He has a healthy sense of pride that could get out of hand if left unchecked! It's all about balance and love. Our world revolves around him, but it's important that he not know that. Not sure if that makes any sense, but it's true.
Anyway, here are some pics!
